CANADA’S FUTURE
ALLEGED AMERICANISATION NEWSPAPERS REPUDIATE THE SUGGESTION; 0/ Telegraph—Press Aeeoclallon —C'opyrlgl" “Times” and Sydney “Sun” Services. (Received May 16, 5 p.m.) OTTAWA, May 16. The newspapers repudiate the suggested Americanisation of Canada. They affirm that the Dominion will become more strongly Canadian with the passage of years. Tho ‘‘Montreal Star" says:—“Our future does not depend upon our grandfathers, but upon our grandsons.” A Sydney “Sun” cable on May Hth said ;—A Canadian, correspondent , describing the recent Americanisation ot Canada, stresses tho fact tliat Canada and the United States have a common tradition, language and faith. He proceeds: —‘‘Probably we cannot inspire an enormous inflow of immigrants with a common Canadian patriotism. Is it so certain that they can be moulded, in devotion to tho Empire? Is it so rr,V~ n that they will never be attracted by tho vision of an independent Canadian republic ?”
