The coastal steamer Defender, wuich arrived at Wellington last evening from Lyttelton, is to be despatched at 4 p.m. to-day for Picton and Hokitika. Mr J. Miller joined the Arahura as third officer on Saturday. Captain Vint will take command of the Aparima at Dunedin, in place of Captain McDonald, who goes on holiday. The Komata, which has been under overhaul at Wellington, is to sail on Wednesday ’for Westport, to load coal for Wellington. The Pateena is to go on the Wellington patent slip to-day for cleaning and painting, and will sail to-night for Nelson direct as usual.

The Canterbury Company’s steamer Breeze has been delayed in the south, and will not arrive at Wellington until Wednesday. She will sail on the same day for Wanganui. Banoatyne and Co. advise that the C. and D. hnor Mimiro, now duo at Auckland from Liverpool, is expected to reach Wellington next Sunday. Mr P. W. The cargo is consigned to the Vacuum Oil Company. Mr J- A Hughan, second officer of the Moeraki, who has been on holiday leave, rejoined his vessel at Dunedin on Saturday, in place of Mr T. MAPOURIKA DUE EARLY TO-DAY.

Through bad weather the Mapounka was bar-bound at Greymouth until Saturday evening, when she left for Westport. The vessel sailed from. Westport at 3-40 a.m- yesterday for Wellington, where she is duo early this morning. TIPI OPAWA FOB LONDON. The New Zealand Stopping Company was advised from Waitara on Saturday that tho Opawa is expected to leave Waitara to-day for Wellington to complete Homeward loading. She is duo here tomorrow. and will sail about next Thursday tor London. NERBHANA EOB LONDON. The C. and, D. liner Nerehana is expected back at Wellington on Wednesday from Lyttelton to complete Homeward loading. The vessel will sail for London on Thursday or Friday. HENRIK IBSEN DUB FRIDAY. En route from New York, the cargo steamer Henrik Ibsen arrived at Auckland on Friday night from Sydney, About 630 tons of cargo is to be discharged at Auckland, from which port the vessel is due at Wellington next Saturday. BORDERER BRINGS JARRAH. On Thursday tjie cargo steamer Borderer arrived at Auckland after a passage of fifteen days from Banbury, West Australia, with a cargo of 2,500,000 ft of hardwood, for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. The cargo is consigned to Millar’s West Australian Hardwoods Company. Fine weather prevailed on the passage to Auckland, but indifferent bunker coat prevented the vessel from averaging more than SJ knots.
