LIFT FATALITY
MAN’S SHOCKING DEATH HEAD JAMJED AGAINST THE CEILING. Yesterday afternoon, at about 3 o’clock, a i'aiiu ac-ni<fcnt oucurrud in Messrs (jlibbons and Co.’s store, in Lanibion quay, when Stephen Alclerton t root Jiio death thruagh being jambed between tbo lilt and tho top of iho lilt well. Nobody appears to have witnessed tiro accident, tho cause ct which can only ho surmised. Nothing was known of tho occurrence until tbo body was. discovered^ by ft. follow employee luvrnwl Harold Cottrell. Cottrell states that about 3 o’clock deceased on mo on to the second floor and put two hags of seed on tho lift and took them to tho top floor. Cottrell waited for him to return, and, ns ho did not come, looked and saw ids h-cad. jambed between the lift and tho ceiling on tho top lioor. Iho head Btoreman came and released the body. Dr Henry was sent for, and on his arrive! pronounced life to be extincc. Constable Forsyth then conveyed the foody to tho morgue. It is understood that deceased was born in Napier. Ho had bocn in the employ of Messrs Gibbons and Co. 101 about three years past. An inquest Will bo held.
