The Ross Goldfields mine superintendent reports for the week ended, March 12th:— I kune Sixth Level, No. 2 Shoot—No. 5 south has been driven to 64 feet from the opening; for the whole of this distance -the prospects have averaged ,1.2 grains to the dish, which is equal to 6s per truck. No. 2 east drive, has, been opened off No. 5 south 48 feet south of No. ,1 east and; driven 12 ; feet in wash of equal - .quality to that being obtained in No. 5 south. When the wash being being opened; np in these two drives io brought under blocking operations with an increased, staff of men the, returns should be considerably increased. One party is blocking east and west off No. 2 south. The east face is of payable quality, and the west face , is only slightly lower in value. One party is blocking east off No. 4 south, in. wash averagingabout one grain per dish. Prospecting Shaft—This has reached a depth of 75 feet, and for the last two feet has passed through what is .known as terrace bottom, which is more favourable for sinking than anything met previously in this shaft, and while it continues better progress will he made. Al•■hough the ground being passed through is not washdirt it is being carefully sampled, and only a colour of gold is being obtained. .
