According to a Press Association message from Timaru, the Ambulance collections in town on Saturday amounted to £230, against 4-103 last year. The country collections will be made a fortnight later. There was a large attendance on Saturday at the Miranui Gun Club's ground at Makerua when two ten-bird shoots for trophies donated by Mr Alb. Judd and Mr A. Thompson were decided. Mr J. Buttcrworth won the former trophy and Messrs Kilminster and DalzicU ‘tied for Mr Thompson’s trophy, but in the shoot-off Mr Kilminster succeeded in winning. The chief event was the club’s championship shoot for a gold modal donated by *Mr Vickers. It was a twenty-one-bird shoot all off the fifteen-yard mark, and Messrs Warrington and J. Butterworth tied for the final, the former eventually winning. A sweepstake shoot was won by Mr P. Olsen. During the afternoon Mr E. J. King, who is leaving the district was presented by the members of the Gun Club, of which he is -secretary, with a handsome writing case. Mr B. A. Keys made the presentation, and Mr King suitably returned thanks.
