Workman, Clark and Co., of are hnilding a new steamer tor the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company, which will resemble the Zealandic- or AValmaua. The vessel will have accommodation for third-class passengers. The liner will be 500 ft in length, and will steam 13i knots. The new boat will he ready for sea next year. THE NBAV HORORATA. In connection with the launching of the New Zealand Shipping Company s Hororafa on December 29th, The Shipping World’’ states that she is the largest vessel yet built at Dumbarton, being 510 ft in length b.p., 64ft in breadth moulded, and 42ft 6in in depth to shelter deck. Her holds are adapted to the carriage of frozen meat, and she has accommodation for over 1200 passengers. In accordance with Admiralty arrangements for arming merchant ships which are-food carriers, she will mount a. pair of 4.7 in guns. The propelling machinery consisting of two sets of quadruple-ex-pansion engines, balanced ou the Yarrow, ; Schliofc- and Tweedy system, ,is being fitted ■by Messrs. Denny and Co.
