CATHOLIC MISSION
LARGE CONGREGATIONS, The women’s mission at present being conducted by the Marist Fathers was continued last evening, when the Rev. Father Herring, S.M., delivered an address on the subject of “Scandal.” He scathingly denounced the social evils of. the day, especially race suicide. Several questions relating to doctrinal subjects were explained by the missioners before the discourse. On Wednesday evening a special solemnity will take place in honour of the Blessed Sacrament, and the Rev. Father McCarthy will deliver an address. The women’s mission will conclude on Sunday afternoon, when the imposing ceremony of th© renewal of baptismal vows will take place, and the Papak Benediction,' which the missioners are empowered to give from the Holy See, will be imparted- ' The men’s mission will begin on Sunday evening and will continue for ten days. A striking feature of the present mission is the large number who attend the early instructions, mass, and Holy Communion. Yesterday morning no fewer than 300 received', the Communion. '
