WHARF LABOURERS

DEPUTATION TO MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT. Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, March 16. Delegates from the Lyttelton Wharf Labourers’ Union met members of Parliament to-day in conference to discuss the conditions of employment on the wharves. The Union was represented by Messrs H. R. Yoycc, J. Wilson, and R. M. Stewart, and the members present were Messrs Isitt, Ell, Davey and McCombs. Mr Voyce said that ex-strikers could not get employment, preference being given to earlier members of the union, and many of the married men were in a poor way. | After a long discussion, Mr Ell agreed to take matters in hand, members saying they would do what they could to improve the position.
