MANAWATU GENERAL 'COMMITTEE. . Tho general committee of the Manawatu A. and R. Association met at Palmerston North on Tuesday. In response to an invitation from the Agricultural Department, Sir F. S. Mcßae (the- president) announced that he would attend the conference in Wellington on the 26th. inet. in regard to the proposed display of New Zealand industries at tho Panama Exposition. A Marton, correspondent complainedthat the charge for machinery space at the show was exorbitant, and out of proportion to tho benefit to be derived, but no .action was tfaken. ■ Dr R. T.- Watson wrote _ enclosing cheque for £2 prize money in a class, the first prize in which was awarded to him. The writer stated a protest had been decided in his ’ favour, and as lie did not desire to benefit pecuniarily in such, a case, he would give

the amount to the fund to he raised for improving tho horse shelter. A letter was received from tho manager, Wcraroa Experimental Farm, returning prize money, £2 10s, won at the recent show, in accordance with the usual custom. Mr James McAra, Masterton, forwarded ai cheque for £J, donation- to next show prize fund, to go to girl rider under 15 years. Mr R, Charmloy, Papatawa, returned his cheque for expenses, ns ha (stated, ( owmg to /the weather, the association “did not have too good a time of it.” Mr H. J. Lancaster, Glen Oroua, wrote suggesting that the association sell prize of manure won by him and keep the proceeds as a .donation, as the writer had no uso for tho same. Mr K. P. Moy also returned his judge’s expenses. On the motion of the president the donors were'thankcd.
