THE DUTHIE CUP. WON BY HUTT CLUB FOB THIRD time: The competition for the Dnthie cup took place on the Lower Hutt frreen yesterday between rinks representing Wanganui, Wellington and Hutt Bowling Clubs. A gusty wind made the green tricky, and on one hand the bowls would not draw to any extent. During the afternoon the wind dropned. the green became keener, and ideal bowling weather obtained. The visitors were entertained at luncheon in the pavilion, and among those present were the Hon. John Dutbie, M.L.C.. Mr W. Callender (president of the Hutt Club). Mr; L. Cohen (president of the Wanganui Club). Mr E. Moult (vice-nrcsident of the Wellington Club). Mr E. P. Bunny (Mayor of Hutt), and Colonel Collins. Speeches -were made by Messrs Callender, Moult, Cohen and tho Hon. J. Dnthie, and several toasts were honoured, including that of the doner of the cup. The tables were artistically decorated by Mr C. Trevethick. tho wellknown floriculturist, and choice blooms were in profusion. In the morning Wellington played Wa_ nganui, winning in the aggregate by 15 points, and after luncheon the losers played Hutt- who won by 4 points in the aggregate. Much interest was centred in the game, and during the afternoon a loonsiderable number of visitor >vere present, including a number from Wellington. A great struggle took place for mastery between Wellington and Hutt, who played in the final. Wellington were leading by i points in the aggregate at the conclusion of the thirteenth head, and at the conclusion of the fifteenth Hutt were one up. Hutt increased their lead to 11 points on the eighteenth head, and eventually won'by 12 points. The scores ate: Wellington v. Wanganui. Wn.Wg. Bush. Leslie. Webb.
