FIRE AT OTAUTAU
. TWO LARGE SHOPS BURNED. Press Association. INVERCARGILL, February 10. A fire at Otautau, at 2.45 o’clock this morning, destroyed two wooden buildings, one of two stories and twenty-two rooms, owned by F. King, chemist, and tho other owned by Robert Jaquery, tinsmith. Tho outbreak began in the upstairs of the former, occupied by MrsGovan, confectioner. King’s building was insured for £6OO in the Alliance office, and Jaquery’s for £3OO in the Norwich Union office. David Grove, painter, who occupied one shop, had an insurance of £250 in tho Union office. Mrs Govan’s stock was not insured. She estimates her loss at £l5O. .
