AUCKLAND. February 2. The fifty-second annual meeting of the Auckland Gas Company, Ltd., was held to-day, the chairman of directors (Mr J. H. Upton) presiding. The receipts showed a total increase of £19,284 (very nearly 11 per cent.), and the expenditure an increase or £19,023 (very nearly 15 per cent). This •proportion is somewhat unusual, and is owing to various causes, amongst which are the strike, the increased cost of coal, the expense of altering the position of certain mains, and the expense of the demonstration of gas cooking ’ The number of new accounts is'l922. making a total of 25,715. The total revenue was £195,375 12s Bd, and the total expenditure £146,842 6s 2d, leaving a balance to profit of £48,533 03 6d.
