SOMALILAND INCIDENT
ALAN OSTLER RELEASED. By Telegraph—Frees Association—Copy rlih\ LONDON, December 22. Mr Alan Ostler has been released from gaol on tho order of tho Secretary of State for the Colonies (Mr Lewis Haroourt). [Mr Alan Ostler, the correspondent of the “Daily Express,” on his return to London, stated that sinco the withdrawal of British support from tho friendlies in Somaliland, there had been atrocities equal to those in tho Congo. The Colonial Office, he said, was seeking to suppress the facts. Tho formation of a camel corps was largely the outcome of these horrors. The native quarter of Berbera in July, 1912, was filled with starving, mutilated friendlies, some of whom trailed themselves along on their hands, owing to their feet having been lopped off" Ho was arrested and was fined £lB3, or in default two months’ imprisonment. He declared he would not pay tho fine.]
