THE SHEARERS

LEVY DECLARED OFF. A SATISFACTORY RESPONSE. The Sheepshoarers’ Association, in view of the decision of the Federation of Labour to call off the strike, havo decided to cease making a levy on members in aid of the strike rebel fund, as from to-day. Tiio response from the shearers, according to the secretary, Mr M. Laracy, has been exceptionally satisfactory when it is remembered that the weather, during the last few weeks, has been most unfavourable for shearing. and in some places only two days work has been obtained on account of tile rain. In other districts not a sheep has been shorn, but in the majority of instances the levy had been X>aid in full.
