LOSS OF THE SHIP “MARLBOROUGH”
To tho Editor “N.Z. Times.*
Sir, —Your report says Captain Hird, an Englishman, was in command of the ship Marlborough. That is not correct. Captain Hird, who was well known to tho undersigned, was a Scotsman, and belonged to Aberdeen, which makes the report nave a still more pathetic interest for tho north of Scotland. —I am, etc., JAMES P. CLARK. Strathallon, Feathcrston, December .Jfith.
