WOMAN’S SAD END
DROWNED IN TRE HARBOUR VICTIM OF MENTAL DEPRESSION. A sad occurrence was disclosed early last evening, when tho body of a wo man was found floating near the Glasgow wharf and was recovered by the police. The deceased was Mrs Temple White, aged thirty-three years, who resided at 10, Charlotte avenue,. Brooklyn, and who had only como here from Feilding a few weeks ago. She had been missing for the last tew days, and* as she had been suffering from depression, fears were entertained for her safety.
Constable Pearce, of Brooklyn, reported that on the night of the 12th, inst. the Rev. J. White informed him. that the deceased, who was his daugh-ter-in-law, had disappeared from hon home some time between 8 and 3 p.m. A thorough search of the residence and the neighbourhood failed to reveal any trace of her whereabouts. According to the constable’s informant, she had been Suffering from mental depression for a number of years, and it was feared that she might have made for the waterfront with the object of doing away with horself. The police stations at Lambton quay, Mount Cook, and Manners street were communicated with, but no clue to the fate of the missing woman was found until the mournful discovery of last evening.
