The death occurred on Saturday afternoon of a highly-respected resident of Napier in the person of Mr Hans N. Hansen in his fifty-first year. The late Mr Hansen was born in Christiania, Norway, and came direct to Napier with his parents forty ygars ago on December Ist. He had lived, in Napier ever since. He left a wife and two children. Recent callers at the local TouristBureau include:—Mr 11. H. Martindale (Manchester, England), Mr E. P. Barbour (Queensland). Mr E. Harris (Johannesburg), Mr 0. Crispin (Manchester, England), Miss Gertrude H. Gardiner (New York), Mr S. Crobbo (London), Air T. Milne (Scotland). Mr M. Elton (Svdney), Mr E. M. KildahJ (Melbourne), and Mr M. E. It is understood that Air F. Y\. Fairey, of Nelson, has been waited oa by certain representative citizens requesting him to stand in the Government interests for the Nelson sent at the next election. Mr Fairey has not decided what action he will take in. the matter. The name of Air C. J» Harley is freely mentioned as the probable official Government candidate (says an exchange). Air George Inncs, at present assis-tant-manager of the Bank of New Zealand at Auckland, has been appointed acting-manager of the bank during the absence in England of the manager, Air H. Buckelton. The duties of assistant-manager will he discharged by Air F. AV. Carter, who was accountant of the bank some years ago, and has been an inspecting officer during the past two years. Air A. S. Thompson, of Pakuronga, a prominent member of the Auckland A. and P. Association, has just returned to Auckland after a holiday tout in the United Kingdom and on the Continent, extending over some eight months. During Ids stay in the British Isles Mr Thompson spent sometime in Cumberland and York and visited all the principal agricultural shows in the Kingdom, paying special; attention to the Royal Agricultural Show at Bristol. Subsequently he travelled over tho North of Ireland and /visited France and Spain. Mr H. Buckelton, manager of the. Bank of New Zealand at Auckland, will leave on a year's visit to England on December 29th. He will be accompanied by Airs Buckelton and Alisa Buckelton, and the party will join tho steamer Theraistoctes at Melbourne and travel via South Africa, returning by the Suez route, and reaching Auckland again about January 15th, 1915. During a period of some months Air Buckelton will he attached to the London, office of the hank. In June ho will join the president (Mr W. J. Nathan) in Paris to represent the Auckland Chamber of Commerce .at the Permanent Congress of Chambers of Commerce.
