ISLAND BAY SCHOOL

The broaking-up ceremony tit Island Bay school was a very pleasant and successful function. The prizes and certificates were distributed by INIr W. H. D. Bell, who made a happy speech to the scholars, for which he was loudly applauded. Mr J. (J. Shorland, chairman of the school committee, and Mr J. Mills also addressed the boys and girls. After the function Mr Bell was entertained by the committee and staff at afternoon tea. The prize-winners were;—Ernest C. Wake, dux of the school, and iforman T. Wells, next in merit. Attendance certificates were won by the following scholars ; First-class.
