The annual report of the LieutenantGovernor of Papua shows a decrease in imports and a good increase in exports. The total revenue was £8249. Ten thousand acres more land were brought under cultivation during the year. Tho European population increased by 152. Native labour was offering more freely on the plantations. The natives were showing more Yeadiness to accept European remedies for disease. They submitted freely to vaccination, believing it a protection against the influences of sorcery.
