REPLENISHING MENAGERIES

Trapping of wild animals for zoological gardens is a much larger business than many would imagine. Mr Hagenbeck alone employed more than twenty European hunters, and during the last few years he established numerous depots where freshly caught animals are sent. He has five in Asia, three in Africa, several in Europe and one in America, two in Canada and another in Siberia. It was his belief that the trade will be fully maintained for some time to come on account of the many zoological gardens that are being built in all parts of the world.
