HUTT BOROUGH

MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. The fortnightly meeting of the Hntti Borough Council was held last even, ing, instead of Monday next, on account of the approaching holidays. There were present;—The Mayor (Mr E. P. Bunny), and Councillors Hobbs,. Purdy, Parsonage. Dawson, Kemp, theme, Meldrum, Clendon, Ball and Hod gins. Mr T. M. Wilford. M.P., advised that the Government intended placing a slot telephone in Lower Hutt, and suggested that a site be selected. The works committee recommended: —That the council undertake the removal of house refuse one day each month, at a charge of sixpence per house, provided a sufficient number of householders apply for the servicethat the gas main, between Knight’s and King’s roads, be linked up st a cost of £3O; that the slot telephone bureau be erected near the Hut* bridge on council property, and that the council protest against the proposed charge of sixpence for its use.
