The “Daily Mail” states that Mr Deeley paid slightly under £3,000,00u for the estate, and that the stamp duties will amount to nearly £30,000. The gross rentals are estimated at £230,000. It is said that the Duke of Bedford made the initial move in the matter of the sale. Mr Deeley made one offer without inspecting the property; then he visited the scene, and a few calculations made on the corner of a blotting pad formed the basis of a second offer, which was accepted by the Duke after half an hour’s talk. Mr Deeley has no office, and not even a telephone.
