TRENTHAM TRACK NOTES

STYX GALLOPS WELL. Tho work yesterday was again got through on the inner grass tracks, but inside the trestles. Several new horses arrived, but thoir trainers were content to let them do useful exercises. The work on tho whole was not very interesting, hut to-day the tracks should wear a busy aspect. The Hon. J. 1). Ormond’s team did not put in an appearance, but T. Quinlivan came in charge of Sea Pink., Culprit, I'ootball and Cheddar. Naumai was again the first to set the ball rolling, but he was restricted to half-pace work. Members of J. Lowe’s team, Secret Link, Charlerose, Kilrain and Mira, wore given a like bask. Odessa (Bell) galloped eight furlongs, tho last seven of which took Imin 41soc. Columbus went a round at a steady half-pace, and then spurted down the straight. , Elevated and a companion wore responsible for a round at three-quarter did a steady round and then sprinted a couple of furlongs. Mount Victoria galloped half-a-milo attractively. Bertrada registered three furlongs in 37Jscc. Ennengardo and Pariform galloped) four furlongs along the back, the two-year-old having, a slight advantage. Immcr was responsible for a smartlyrun seven furlongs Undecided went twice round at a solid half-pace. La Reina hopped off at the mile and a-quarter post, and was assisted over die last mile by Bleriot. The pair finished up thoir task pleasingly, and left the eight furlongs behind in Imin 47sec. ] Bronze went a round at a strong half-pace, and was then picked up at the six furlong post by Nonette. Awahou was restricted to a couple or rounds at a strong half-pace. Sartovna, P'otoa, and Meprio Roe were given like tasks. Tree Lucerne got to the end of three furlongs comfortably in 40sec, Passadena and Rewi Poto (separate* ly) did steady work. Grit Lawless (T. Kent) jumped five fences faultlessly. ■ Two of Prosser’s team ran six fur. longs in Imin 20sec. Styx (Bell) finished in front of Pavleva (O’Shea) over a like course in Imin 17 2-s»ec. Beldame and The Hague were restricted to a circuit at half-pace. Aratiatia easily beat a companion in ;a six furlong flutter, tho last five taking Imin 6sec. Los Angelos (Telford) gialloped a mile and a-quarter, and was picked up at the mile peg by Parky (Deeley). The jpair finished together, and got to the lend of the journey in Imin 47sec, tho ( fiil] distance being covered in 2min ‘laseo. Los Angelos carrle dfully 9st, Wd the performance was therefore a ■pretty good one. Semaphore and Silver Monarch were [given light tasks. Princess Flo, Makiri, Glenfern, Toa Tero, Katna, Patponale and Prince 'Laddo all did slow work. Chime showed to better advantage Than the Varco —Nerve colt in a sprint |down the straight. After breakfast, Culprit, Sea Pink, and Cheddar were given a couple of pounds at half-pace, while Football itrotted. Valodga end the Hierarch —Peace 'filly, from J. Lowe’s stable, wore given [similar duties. j Tho Birkenhead —Peace filly easily beat the Charlemagne ll.—Monardo filly over half-a-mil« in 51Jseo. J Adnought (McSweeney) and Huna'baha (Ptercival) set out over a round of (the big fences, but the second one (the •post and rails) brought the Auckland morse to grief. Adnought completed, (tho circuit and jumped well throughout. Mr E. J. Watt had tho misfortune to Jose a bay filly foal, full-sister to Football, last week.
