From Our Own Correspondent, October 22. The Suburbs Rifle Club, of Wellington, will fire a match with the Opaki Rifle Club on Monday next. An orchardist in the district puts down his loss from damage done to fruit trees during the storm on Saturday and Sunday last at £SOO. Mr L. S. Nicol, of Masterton, hua donated a handsome silver cup to the Wairarapa Amateur Swimming Club for competition during the coming season. An anonymous donor has presented a gold medal to the club. The Wairarapa Amateur Athletic Club will hold its first evening meeting on Thursday, when two events (100yds and 440yds) will be run off. Mr M. Alpass, of Wairarapa, has purchased Mr R. Robinson’s farm of 135 acres at Konini; Mr J. Littler, of Palmerston North, has bought Messrs Dodson and Hirst's farm at Ballance; Mr George Benton, of Nireaha, Mr A. Kerr’s farm of 203 acres at Kaitawa; and Mr G. L. Hawley Drew, Mr M. O’Connor’s dairy farm at Mangamntu. Mr H. Anderson, of Mangatainoka, has been appointed honorary piper to the Mangatainoka Athletic Society.
