At the Newmarket Second October meeting, the following was the result of the race for the MIDDLE PARK PLATE, A sweepstake of 30 sovs, with 1000 sovs added ; second 200 sovs, and third 100 sovs from stake. Thursby’s b c Kennymore, by John o’ Gaunt—Croceum, 8.10 3 The Middle Park Plate is one of the principal events of the season, and the result of Friday’s race would probably cause some surprise, unless there had been some striking change in the two-year-old form since the last mail left England. The Tetraroh, who is in a class by himself as the best two-year-old in England, was not engaged in the race, but Stornoway has been regarded as one of the next best colts of the season, and his, defeat would be rather unexpected, as Corcyra had. not come into prominence as a likely winner of an important race. Corcyra claimed a .large number of engagements, but did not make his appearance during the early part of the season. He was bred by his owner, his dam, Pearmin, being by Persimmon—Nonemoosha, by Hagioscope— Wenonah, by Galopin—Esa, by Tineas.
