MR. D. BUICK

Mr D. Buick (Palmerston North) congratulated the former speaker on his remarks, but disagreed with his statements regarding the importation of the Manager for Railways. Ho read an extract from the Governor’s Speech delivered while the Mackenzie Government were in office, and pointed out that steps were to be taken to get an, expert “from abroad” to manage the railways. He thought it was the duty of the Government to bring the unoccupied native lands into occupation. There was a large amount lying practically useless. At 11.10 p.m. Mr W. A. Veitch (Wanganui) moved the adjournment of the debate, and the House rose until 2.30 p.m. to-day.
