During the visit of their Majesties to Manchester they listened to a massed choir of 20,000 children singing the National Anthem. Mr Samuel Walter Royse, the Lord Mayor, was knighted. Their Majesties have returned to London. (Received July 15, 10.55 p.m.) LONDON, July 15. The King has written a letter thanking Lord Derby for the arrangements made for his tour in Lancashire. He hoped that the visit would bring the Sovereigns nearer to the hearts of the people. They would ever regard the title “Duke of Lancaster,” of which he was the proud bearer, as a symbol of a real and homely relation strengthening the bonds between them and the Sovereign. His Majesty desired that when his health was hereafter drnnk in Lancashire that the toast he:—“The Duke of Lancaster.”
