No. 2, Observation and Mutual Assistance Match. Conditions—Five rounds each at 300 and 400yds. At 300yds the teams fired five rounds each at falling targets, direct hits counting whether targets fell or not. At 400yds the competitors in pairs fired five rounds at a figure 3 target. The idea of the match was to test observation of fire without assistance at the first .range, while at the longer range mutual assistance in observing the results of the firing was allowed to each pair of competitors. On a target being hit the competitor occupying the corresponding position in the other team dropped out, and when all the members of a particular team had been so disposed of that team was considered to be hors du combat.
