FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 28. (Before Mr W- G. Riddell, S.M.) ALLEGED GAMBLING. Mitchell- Brown 'was charged with having nsed a house at Lyall Bay as a common gaming house. Tho case was adjourned till March 7th, bail being allowed in the sum of £2O. William Staples, Stephen Nicholas, George Baker, Spiers Alexander, James Craig, and Frederick Weaver were charged with having been oh Brown’s premises without lawful excuse. The three last-named did not appear. All were remanded till March 7th. THROWING STONES.

Stephen Ede was fined IDs, with costs 7s, for having thrown stones to the danger of property. Tho offence occurred immediately after the parade at Hataitai of a cadet corps, ixi which the defendant is a sergeant. A DESERTER.

For having deserted from the Star of England, Frank Norman, a seaman, was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment. AN INFORMATION DISMISSED. Richard John Tarr wail charged with having permitted a horse to wander in Karori.

Mr T. C. A. Hislop appeared for the Borough Council, and Mr P. W. Jackson for tho defendant.

After hearing evidence his Worship dismissed the information, holding that it had not been proved that Tarr was the owner of tho horse. ERRING TERRITORIALS.

For breaches of the Defence Act the following youths were mulcted in nominal penalties: Clarence Egington, Hector Armstrong, Christopher Cusack, William James Dobson, Donald Ross Macdougall, John Henry Porter, Keith D. Russell, Sidney G. Richardson, Herbert George Scott, iGeorgo Edward Trupp, James Whittington, Carl Wilson, and Ronald David Wylie.
