MARCONI CONTRACT
EDITOR SUMMONED FOR. ALLEGED LIBEL. LONDON, February 26. Mr Cecil Chesterton, editor of tho “New Witness,” has been summoned at Bow street Police Court for libelling Mr Godfrey, Isaacs, President of tho Marconi Wireless Telegraph Co., whom ho accused of corruptly conspiring in regard to the Marooni wireless contract with his brother, the AttorneyGeneral (Sir Rufus Isaacs) and the Postmaster-General (Mr Herbert), The three were described as malefactors, ... “THEFT, KNAVERY AND VILLAINY” ALEGED. (Received February 28, 0.40 a.m.) LONDON, February 27. Mr Chesterman’s article declared that Mr Samuel (Postmaster-General) and Sir Rufus Isaac and his brother were engaged in* a swindle and were guilty of theft, knavery and villainy. It also attacked the relatives of both parties. A second article said that when Mr Samuel was caught with his hand in tip till there was a slump in Marooni shares. It also accused Mr Samuel of pulling the wires over the purchase of silver in India.
