Tho “ Montreal star,” commenting on Senator Pearce’s statement, reminds him of the Admiralty's official statement submitted to the 1909 conference commending a single navy, with unity of training and unity- of command, with oversea contributions according to the Dominions’ needs and resources. This was the Admiralty's first choice. Its second choice was that adopted by Australia. All Mr Borden had done was to give the Admiralty the first choice. AUSTRALIAN FLEET. REAR-ADMIRAL PATEY CHOSEN COMMANDER. (Received February 27, 11.20 p.m.) LONDON, February 27. Rear-Admiral Patey has been chosen as Commander of the Australian fleet.
