SHOW AT MASTERTON GREAT DISPLAY OF ORCHAKU PRODUCTS. Special to the “Times.” * MASTERTON, February 2(5. The lifth annual autumn show of the Masterton Horticultural Society was held at Masterton to-day. The entries totalled 654, and were a record for, the society. The display of pot plants, asters, and fruit was magnificent, but roses, dahlias, and sweet peas were very poor, and in some classes the judge would not make an award. The principal prizetakers were: Fot plants (judge, Mr Fitzgerald, Wellington).—Three distinct begonias, single, G. W. Sellar; three distinct begonias, double, Mrs E. Meredith; three red begonias, Mrs T. Michell; collection of begonias, A. Webber; three plants of coleus, Mrs E. Meredith; three ferns, Mrs A. C. Morgan; fern in pot, Miss M. H. Payton; foliage, Mrs Sellar; fuchsias, J. Berriman; geraniums, Robinson and Sons; ivy leaf geranium, J. Nicol; gloxinia, Mrs Meredith; gloxinia (two plants), Mrs Meredith; basket of ferns or flowers, Mrs Sellar; palm in pot, A. Campbell; petunias, J, Berriman; pot plants in flower, Mrs G. In the home industries the first prize winners were Mrs J. A. Millar (four), Mrs A". O. Smith (two), J. Candy, C. W. Perrin, Miss Chamberlain, Mrs H, T. Wood, and H. Schaniwober. In the decorative classes, judged by Mina Murray, of Wellington, the first awards were won by Mrs id. T. Wood (two), in bouquets; Miss M. H. Payton, buttonhole nun ladies' spray; Miss Gawith, floral design; Mrs Smith, basket of flpwersMrs H. T. Wood, decorated mantelpiece and flowers arranged for effect. In fruit the jprize-wiimers were: J. C. Alpass, two firsts in apples, two in pears, three in plums, one in quinces; M. Cacelberg, one in apples, one in collection of fruit; H. McHattie, apples; D. J. Cameron, grapes; T. Dixon, plums; J. Candy, rhnbarh and tomatoes; F. G. Moore, tomatoes. The first awards in vegetables were won by M. Caselberg (four), W. Kemp (five), C. H. Anderson and A. Webber (two), J. Candy and J. Berriman (two), R. G. Dixon (two), A. Campbell, Mrs J. P. Perry, W. Harding, Robinson and Sons. In . the amateur classes the first prizes in fruit were awarded to W. S. •lago, W. H. Dunn, J. B. Nicol, J. Barnes, B. E. Jones, J. Candy, in vegetables J". Allen, R. G. Dixon, Mrs Scharnweber, W. Harding, J. B. Nicol, H. Madeley, and <l. Mintou. In out flowers J.
