THE AUSTRALIAN NAVY “ADMIRALTY RESPONSIBLE FOR MISCONCEPTIONS.” By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received February 26, 9.45 p.m.) LONDON, February 26. The Australian correspondent of the “Morning Post” holds the Admiralty responsible for any misconceptions that exist concerning the Australian navy. Ho states that it is known that tho Admiralty prepared a proclamation defining Australia’s status in 1911, but its publication was withheld. Tho Australian correspondent points out that a Vvhite Paper dealing with tho 1911 conference states that the proclamation strictly limits the Australian navy’s spheres, excluding the Pacific. CANADIAN POLICY. PROBLEM OF PATRIOTISM IN WESTERN CANADA. OTTAWA, February 26. Mr Bennett, the member for Calgary, during the naval debate, said that the problem of patriotism remained to be dealt with throughout Western Canada. He said that when tho British arms, were defeated in South Africa bonfires blazed on the western prairies. Many people, he added, voted for reciprocity because they understood that tho United States wanted it. Recently Greeks and Bulgarians left the West in order to join in the Balkan war. All such things indicated that the immigrant population was still far from assimilated.
