WEDDINGS

The ■wedding took place at the Anglican Chnrch, Frankton Junction, of Miss Violet Harman, second daughter of Mr William Harman, of Frankton, and Mr Walter Bentley of the railway staff, Frankton, late of Johnsonville, and second son of Mr Edward Bentley, of Johnsonville.' The bride was attended by her sister. Miss Grace Harman, and Miss Hath Davis, of Koromatua. The Rev. A. Drake officiated. The bride was in cream silk eolienne trimmed with silk lace. She wore the orthodox wreath and veil, and carried a shower bouquet. The bridesmaids were dressed in champagne silk and picture hate, and carried shower bouquets. The bridegroom’s presents to the bridesmaids were a pair of gold ear-rings set with amethysts, and a gold brooch respectively. The bridegroom was attended by Mr Alf. Connolly, of 1 Yankton, as best man, and Mr Arthur Scott, of Thames, as groomsman. On February 12th Miss Phoebe Annie Higgins, daughter of the late Mr and Mrs P. Higgins, of Qreymouth, was married to Mr Leonard Francis True, of Lower Hutt, and son of Mr and Mrs O. E. True, of Feilding. The ceremony was performed at St. Augustine’s Chnrch, Petone, by the Rev. Chinese silk, with a yoke of tacked iiet, and trimmed with silk insertion and a fringed overskirt. She also wore a bridal wreath and veil, and carried a shower bouquet of white roses, sweet peas, maidenhair and asparagus ferns. She also wore a diamond brooch, the gift of the bridegroom. The bridesmaids were Miss Brunelle and Miss Higgins* sister of the bride, who were in white embroidered muslin frocks with overall lace, and largo white hats wreathed with pink roses. The bride, who was given away by her father, was in a costume of white taffeta silk with overdress of lace, a wreath and hand-em-broidered veil. The bridesmaids were the Misses Burnett and Brady, nieces of the bride, who wore white embroidered dresses and picture hats with plumes. The bridegroom’s present to the bride was a dross ring, and to the bridesmaids he gave gold brooches. Messrs W. Brady and W. Burnett carried out the duties of best man and grooms mail respectively. On the same day Mr and Mrs H. McPherson of Clive, Napier, celebrated their golden wedding. They were married at boons, Perthshire, Scotland, on February 12th, 1963, and afterwards left for New Zealand by the ship Telegraph. There are ten children, all of whom were present at the gathering, and 37 grandchildren. The children are Mr J. McPherson (DaunevirkeJ, Mr W. McPherson (Gisborne), Mi's R. McAulay (Blsthorpe), Mrs P. Brady (Clive), Mrs Burnett (Hastings). Mrs Higgins (Norecwood), Mrs Greene (Dannevirke), Mrs McDonald (Waixoa), Mrs F. Dunn (Havelock North), and Mrs J. Blair (Wairoa). Among the presents received were two easy chairs, given by the family, and a handsome clock, given by the grandchildren.
