NON-UNIONISM A “NOXIOUS WEED.” A general meeting of the Australian Workers’ Union was held at the Trade* Hall, Broken Hill, on Sunday morning, February 14th, says tho Sydney “Sun.” Correspondence was received from tho Barrier Labour Federation in reference to the non-nnionist question, and tho secretary was instructed to notify that the A.W.U. was in entire accord with the B-L.F. in any action it may take tor the of that “noxious weed.” The following motion was also carried: “That we protest against the proposal to form a .branch of the A.W.U, in Broken Hill, as, in our opinion, it is only an attempt xo injure the organisation on the Barrier, and that we look upon it as a non-political Union and a bogus organisation, and that this resolution be forwarded to the A.M.A at its meeting this afternoon.” A special mooting of the Australian Miners’ Association was held in the afternoon at the Trades Hall, to decide upon definite action in connection with the non-unionist question. After a lengthy discussion, it was unanimously resolved: “That, on and after March 31st, every member of the association refuse to work with non-unionists, and to effectively enforce this a show of pence cards Be held at the place of working every month. If any person fails to produce his pence card the members to refuse to work with him there and then.” It was also unanimously carried: “That any member of this association who -does not refuse to work with any person who cannot show a financial pence card shall bo expelled from thd association.” - Tho secretary was instructed to write to the Engine-drivers’ and Firemen’* Association, asking that members bo instructed not to lower such mem in cages.
