SEAMEN’S UNION
ELECTION OF OFFICIALS. Frew Association. DUNEDIN, February 96. Mr W. Belcher, who has been seen* tary of the Dunedin branch of the Federated Seamen’s Union sines 1894, has been re-elected for a further ten* of twelve months, securing 1023 vote* as against 442 votes, obtained by the other nominee, Mr F. O. Smith. The voting for two vioo-pregidenta for the Auckland branch resulted as foUowst James Jack 950, Samuel Milbaank 216, William Chalmers 371, William Simpson 344. Messrs Jack and Milbank have therefore been elected. Two nominations were received for the assistantsecretaryship of the Wellington branch, William K.. Bmithyman gaining 877 votes and George H. Bower* 662. All other officers in the Dunedin, Wellington, and Auckland branchee were returned unopposed (there is no branch at Lyttelton). The whole of the members of the union are entitled to vote lor any positions to be filled in each of the centres, no matter where they may be domiciled.
