From Our Own Correspondent. February 24. Mi"* Hayes was successful in winding Mr Boulbeefs trophy at tho tennis tournament last Wednesday, and Mr Schieming and Miss Dnnckly won the combined doubles and the medals donated by Mr O. H. Gardiner. ■ The Druids visited Tokomaru on night. A large number were present from the Oroua Lodge at Palmerston. A.D. Bro. Bush presided. Two new members were initiated at the close of the meeting. A shooting competition took place, which resulted in Shannon winning.Mr R. L. Tippler has recently had an artesian boro put down 210 feet, with the result that he .has a flow of water from a one-inch pipe of 60 gallons a minute. Mrs Dupree, of tho staff of the Shannon public school, will shortly bo leaving hero for Inglewood. The Levin bowlers visited Shannon on Saturday, and were successful in winning back tho Kinniburgh Feather. Tho players aud scores were as follow:—Levin: Messrs Groves, Mclntyre, Jamieson, and Wilson (skip), 24 points; Shannon: E. B. Stephenson, J. Mitchell, J. Roach, and H. Knowles (skip), 20 points.
