WAS THERE A WRECK?
BEACH STREWN WITH FRUITCASES. (Received February 24, 0.35 a.m.) MELBOURNE, February 23. The pilot at Cunninghame reports that the beach is strewn with fruitcases. The aborigines report that they saw a man clinging to a lifebuoy, br»t this report requires confirmation. Recently the steamer Levuka from Fiji dumped 8000 cases of condemned bananas into the sea, which probably accounts for the wreckage.
