H. Scales returned to Veilington on Saturday morning from south. Tho Kowhai will deliver a load of chaff at Napier from Picton, and will leave Napier on Wednesday for Wes.port via Wellington. The vessel will merely bunker at this port. The* barque Nordstem, 1080 tons, is to load coal at Westport shortly for tho South Sea Islands. A collision occurred in Auckland harbour on Thursday afternoon between the

ferry boat Pupuke and the vehicular ferry steamer Goshawk. The Pupuke was leaving the Northcoto ferry tee anti the Goshawk was coming in to the tee, when the collision occurred. A considerable portion of the bulwarks of the r'upuke were torn away and the deadwood above the rudder of tho Goshawk was broken by the impact. The damage. However, was not very serious, and both vessels were able to continue their running. The Koonya is to leave Wellington today for Greymouth to load for Wellington. The Komata is to leave here on Wednesday for Westport. A liberal display of bunting on the American barquentine Koko Head, alongside tho Clyde Quay wharf on Saturday, was in celebration of the anniversary of Washington’s birthday. The Tyser liner Star of England is to sail from Wellington at daybreak oa Wednesday for London. Mr Reed, second officer of the Wairuna, has gone to Dunedin for instructions. Mr D. Harkness has succeeded him. The Haupiri is to leave Onehunga at noon to-day for New Plymouth and Wellington. She is due here on Wednesday, and will sail on the same day for Picton and Onehunga. The coastal steamer Mangapapa is to leave Karamea to-day direct for Wellington. She will probably sail from here on Wednesday for Westport and Karamea. The Breeze is to load at Dunedin and Oamaru on Wednesday, at Timaru on Thursday, at Lyttelton on Friday, ami at Wellington on Saturday for Wanganui. The Westmeath is to dock at Port Chalmers this week to replace a propeller blade which was lost during he vovage from Liverpool. The Marine Underwriters’ Association has received a cable message from London stating that the steamer Star of Australia, which had her tail shaft broken while on a voyage from Australia to Dunkirk, London, and Antwerp, has left Alexandria under her own steam. The Star of Australia was towed into Aden at the time of the accident, and auerwards to Alexandra for repairs. ULIMAROA LEFT SYDNEY. The local office of the Huddart, Parker Company received cabled advice that the Ulimaroa left Sydney at 12.30 p.m. cm Saturday direct for Wellington. She is bringing 152 passengers for New Zealand ports, and is due here early on Wednesday. INDEABARAH LEFT LONDON The Tyser steamer Indrabarah sailed from London on tho 13th instant for Melbourne, Sydney, Auckland, Napier and Wellington. She is due at Wellington about April 18th, CHEESE FROM PATEA. The South Taranaki Shipping Company has a big quantity of cheese from Patea to bring to Wellington for transhipment to the Westmeath and the Eemuera. The cheese for both vessels will amount to 15,000 cases, which will be brought from Patea at an aovrage of a thousand cases a day. Tho Kiripaka’s capacity is 980 cases, Kapuni 1430 cases, and the Mana 950 cases. THE STAR OF IRELAND. The Tyser liner Star of Ireland, from New York, is to leave Auckland at daybreak to-mcrxow for Wellington, where she is duo on Thursday. • The vessel wiß discharge about 2000 tons of cargo at Wellington, and will probably get away on Saturday for Lyttelton and Dunsdiu. the Star of Ireland left New York on December 22nd, and calls were made on route at St. Vincent and Capetown. With the exception of a heavy southerly gale on December 24th and 25th, and strong gales on January Ist and 2nd and January 27th and 28th, fine weather was mot with on the voyage. The Seales liner Clan Grant arrived at Lyttelton on Friday night from Timaru, and started work early on Saturday morning. The vessel is to leave Lyttelton tomorrow for Wellington, and will not visit Picton. She is due herb on Wednesday. and will afterwards go to Auckland to complete Homeward ' loading. The New Zealand Shipping Company’s steamer Tokomaru arrived at Melbourne on Sunday, the 16th instant, from 81. John. At 5.10 o’cflock lest night the Mdheno arrived at Auckland from Sydney direct. She brought 122 saloon and 222 steerage passengers.
