On Saturday next nomination* close for the Marlborough Racing Club’s spring meeting. The programme includes four open events, the leading race carrying stakes of 115 sovs, eight hack events and two trots. Xt is not a difficult meeting to win at, and should appeal to owners and trainers who cannot hope to win at the larger meetings. Mr James Bryce, late of Glasgow, trotting horse owner and trainer, arrived at Wellington by the Tainui yesterday on hia way to Christchurch to settle in that city. He is importing ‘ two British champion-trotting mares, Jenny Lind and Our Aggie, which are coming out by the Nairnshire, due about Decern-

or 17th. Jenny Lind has a oertiiiuite for 2min Usee for a mile and Our Aggie has done 2min 32seo. Mowbray, who won the Wellesley Slakes in such decisive fashion, was bred by Air Harvey Paterson at the i-ciio stud, Laro, near Geelong. Mr T. E. Y. Seddou, Ai.P., who paid a visit to the stud, was greatly impressed with this yearling, who is a very handsome son of the expatriated New Zealand stallion Menschikoff and Lady iielbou. He tells me that a brother oi the well-known horseman and trainer, J. Scobio, has charge of the yearlings, and their condition reflected great credit on the stud groom. Mr J. B. Reid gave lio guineas for Moivbray at the yearling sales at Randwick last Easter, and ho appears to have secured a bargain.
