SOME RACE DRESSES

The weather yesterday somewhat made up for the cyclone of Saturday, and a great many people went out to Trenthara, to win the money they did not inn on Saturday, or to lose it. NEW PLYMOUTH NOTES October 27. Mrs Allen Waters (Auckland) is on a visit to her mother, Mrs Crawford (New Plymouth). Mrs Hetherington has returned from a visit to the Wairarapa. Mies Colvilo (England) is expected shortly on a visit to her brother, the Rev, A. H. Colvilo, vicar of St. Mary’s. Mrs C.' Maokay (Wanganui) has been spending a few days in New Plymouth. On Thursday the high school sports were held in the schooigrounds, a large number of friends and relations of the pupils being present. The New Plymouth Tennis and Croquet Club’s courts are to bo opened for play on Saturday next., Mrs C. E. Baker gave a bridge party on Monday evening, Mrs Johns winning, first prize. Much interest was taken in a competition entitled "Kate," which was won by Mrs Hermann Von Dadelszen, Mrs tr. Kelly coming a close second. The hostess received in a lovely frock of bine crepe de chine with trimmings of Irish crochet. Miss Manisty, of Auckland, who assisted Mrs Rathbone in her duties, wore a pretty white muslin frock, with hlack and white hat.
