Evidence at the inquest on James Gordon, who was found dead on the road near Waikaie, showed that deceased and a mate drank a bottle and a half of whisky neat in two hours. A verdict was returned of death from suffocation through falling face downwards in the mud whilst in a state of helpless intoxication.
