Finally twenty-two battalions of Turkish troops, with six batteries, were driven northward, and reached Serviya (or Serfija), north-west of Elassona and twenty miles from Diskata, whence they wore routed on Monday. (Received October 24, 10 p.m.) ' ATHENS. October 24. Twenty thousand Turks, with six batteries, entrenched at Sarantaporos, and made a stubborn resistance all the morning on Tuesday. Fighting was continued by moonlight, and during the night a flying column, comprising the Greek third and fourth divisions, made a flank movement on the Turkish left. Daylight revealed their pinn and . the Turks fled precipitately, leaving a quantity of baggage. The Greeks hotly pursued them through defiles, and on Wednesday evening occupied Serviya; also a bridge over the Halikmon river, threatening the Turkish line of retreat. . , _ , Before abandoning Serviya the Turks massacred seventy Greek priests. The Greeks have advanced their headquarters to Khankhitzizoga, and the troops are in the highest spirits. The Crown Prince reports that twentytwo guns were captured, with much ammunition and transport wagons and baggage. The Turkish army is scattered, and the pursuit continues. General Danglis reports that the Turks lost heavily, and many were made prisoners, including a lieutenant-colonel. Two battalions of Evxonos under Licu-
tenant-Colonel Constantopulos attacked two Turkish battalions near Vlakholivadon, south of Sirviya. destroying them. SALONICA CABLE CUT. ATHENS, October 33. Rive hundred Greeks have occupied Kastro, on the west side of the Turkish island of Lemnos, in the Aegean Sea, capturing throe officers aud forty-two men. This enables tho Greeks to cut the Salonica cable, and compels the Turkish forces in Macedonia to depend on wireless telegraphy. TURKISH ACCOUNTS. CONSTANTIONPLE, October 23. Greek troops have reached Katerina, in the Gulf of Salonica, with tho object of cutting off the 'Turks making for Serviya. Other reports state that the Greeks are bombarding Preveza, at the entrance I tn t-bo Gulf of Arta, and that the Turk- ! ish fleet i» preparing to raid the Aegean Sea. BRITISH STEAMER SEIZED. ATHENS, October 23. Greek torpedo-boats seized the British steamer Pen-poi, 2061 tons, belonging to tho Penpol S.S. Co.. Falmouth, her cargo being contraband.
