AN OFF MORNING AT RICCARTON
Special to the “Times.”
CHRISTCHURCH, October 21
This was an off morning at Riccarton. K. Cutts sent Autumuus and Masterpiece over a circuit on tho tan at a good half pace. Vice-Admiral, Canute and Allegory were indulged in a couple of rounds on the same track. The first circuit was taken at a slow pace, but they completed the second round at a useful speed. Canute appeared to bo a trifle lame on the completion of the gallop, but it is understood that the trouble is not serious.
It appears that when Frank Wootton met with a motor-cycling accident m England last month ho had a very narrow escape of a much more serious injury than the fractured collarbone he actually received. Ho was going fast, and after the smash was found lying near his machine and quite unconscious. However, ho made a splendid recovery, and. now appears to be riding as well as ever.
