October 18. The erect of the week has been the Hawke's Bay Agricultural and Pastoral Society's spring show at Hastings, at which there was a record attendance on both days. On "People's Day" the weather was threatening, but later became beautiful! fine, assisting to make the show a huge success. His Excellency Hard Islington was present. Mr and Mrs J. Wilson-Graig returned this week from Dunedin. Mr and Mrs Skerman (Darmevirke) are staying with Mrs Dewee, of Sea view terrace.

The friends of Mrs (Dr) Edgar learned with regret this week of her ehdden illress. Heir condition was better this noming.

Mrs 6. C. Cooper (Maeterton) is visit ing Mrs Hindmaish (Greenraeadowe). Mr and Mrs W. J. Stratton, who have bean on a trip to England, will arrive home on. October 30th. Mr and Mrs Harry Warren have returned to Tomoana.

.On liio arrival, here Wednesday evening lord Islington was the guest of Mr T. H. Lowry, at the Hawke's Bay dub. He later proceeded to Sir Q. P. Donnelly’s residence, “Ofcataxa." and is spending the week-end with Mr Pharazyn, "Estella," Hastings. Mr and Mrs J. H. Miles left here by motor on Wednesday for Marton.
