Mr W. T. Williams, late third officer of the Mararoa, has resigned from the service of the Union Company. The Orari arrived at London last Wednesday. and the Waimate reached Monte Video on the same day from New Zealand ports. The Ruapehu arrived at Teneriffe last Friday from Wellington en routo to London. The auxiliary eoow Echo, which is to leave Mokau to-day for Wellington, will probably arrive here on Wednesday. Captain Carson, of the Waihora. Is to go on holiday this week, and Captain Showman, late of the Maital, will take charge of the Waihora. Captain W. MoBride returned to Auckland by the T’alune from the islands last week.

The Waihora, duo at Wellington this morning from Newcastle with a full load of coal for this port, is to berth at the Railway wharf. After discharge the ves~ol will sail about Thursday for Newcastle again. The Waipori will load at Westport to-day for Wellington, and will-return from this port to Westport to load for Auckland The coastal steamer Wootton. which arrived at Wellington on Saturday morning with a load of timber from Nydia Bay, is to leave WeUington this morning on the return trip to load for Lyttelton. The Holmdale left Tarakoho on Friday night for Oneliunga. The vessel will subsequently go to Greymouth and Gisborne, and thence from Napier to Greymouth. The Rosamond, due at Wellington to-day from Onehnnga, will probably sail this evening for Picton and Onehnnga. The Tyser liner Star of Scotland arrived at Wellington yesterday morning from London via ports, and berthed at tho King's wharf, where she will discharge remainder of cargo. Tho vessel is expected to get away on Wednesday for Bluff for Homeward loading. The Mangapapa was at Westport on Sat* nrday awaiting nows from Karamea as to tho condition of tho bar, which was unworkable on Saturday. Tho vessel loads timber at Karamea, returns to Westport, and then comes to Wellington. The Breeze is due at Wellington on Wednesday from southern ports, and is to leave here on the same day for Napier and Gisborne. The vessel will subsequently load -at Groat Barrier Island and Mercury Bay for. Wellington and;Lyttelton. . LIZZIE TAYLOR IN TROUBLE. ■ The well-known. ketch Lizzie Taylor was towed In to Wellington ■ early on Saturday morning .by the Anchor Company’s steamer Waimea The sailer had lost one of her masts, and berthed at the. Railway wharf for repairs. Captain A. Peterson reported that the Lizzie Taylor was bound from Havelock with a load of timber for Timarn on July 25th at midnight when she was struck by a south-westerly squall. The starboard rigging was carried away, followed by the mainmast and jib-boom. During the night the vessel drifted into Port Ligar, where anchor was dropped, and everything was made fast. On,.the two subsequent days the wind blow at a terrific force. At 2 p.m. to-day Mr C. S. Nixon (Collector of Customs) will bold a formal inquiry concerning the mishap.
