GIRL OF NINETEEN WHO MARRIED AFTER HAVING STOLEN. A well-dressed young woman was charged at Glasgow last month with-stealing £3O from the Glasgow Exhibition. Counsel for tho accused pleaded she was only nineteen years of age,’ and of respectable parentage. Prior to accepting the position of a cash Biri in the exhibition she was employed by a firm of warehousemen. When in the exhibition she became 'enamoured with a , young man, who was also an exhibition employee, and they ultimately became engaged to be married. The young man-did not appear to have funds-but had a considerable influence - over the girl, and she, getting the opportunity—whether at his instigation or not —made away with the £3O. They got married, and went to Cork. Her husband subsequently . became a ship’s steward, but on returning from America he was arrested in the city on a charge of having stolen £3 in Ireland. He (the agent) had an opportunity of speaking to the husband, ■ who took the entire blame for what took place in the exhibition, and also for what took place ’in Ireland. It was therefore quite clear that the girl was entirely subject to the influence of the man.

His lordship put accused on probation for six months.
