A PLUCKY RESCUE.

LITTLE GIRL SAVED FROM DEATH. PRESS ASSOCIATION. ’* ' AUCKLAND, July SI. The plucky rescue of a wee girl was witnessed', in Dominion road , on. Monday •morning, the rescuer being somewhat severely, injured. Nearing the corner of Valley road a tram car and a gig were approaching, at a good pace. A. standing horse and cart near the footpath hid from the view of a little girl of six, the fast approaching car and gig. Step: ping off the footpath she essayed to cross the road, and immediately she' found herself almost in front of the approaching danger. . A spectator of the little girl’s dilemma was a young man, Mr - S. r'. Bush. Promptly," and regardless of risk, he sprang to the child’s assistance. Crossing l the rails" in 1 front 1 of the approaching car, Mr Bush seised the child, and had barely time to- throw her - clear of danger before he himself went down under the hoofs of the horse, which was being driven in the gig.' He" was struck by a shaft of the vehicle, and while on the grouud one of the wheels passed over his ’body. Fortunately it was a very light conveyance,, or he, would, have probably been more seriously injured. As it was, he was picked up in a semiconscious condition, and medical assistance had to be summoned. He was found to be suffering froim a dislocated; collar-bone and ■, other ■ injuries.' '■ , Mr Bush was conveyed to his > home, •and will, the doctor says, be incapacitated, for a month at least. Tho little-girl escaped injury.
