MEETING OF WELLINGTON BOARD.

The works committee reported that no new facts had been, adduced such as would justify tho present renewal of tho application which had been already refused. _ Library subsidies authorised: Ehandallah, £1 15s; Opaki, IGs Bd. GENERAL. , The Under-Secretary for Public Worke notifled that the department would re new tho bridge at Gross Creek, in oon junction with the Railway Department —Department to be thanked for it piompt action. G. Romp was granted a transfer oi scholarship from Nelson to Christchurch. , I , Horokiwl notifled tho board of the closing of the school, owing to the removal of pupils. Greytown intimated that it would provide Jll2O for furnishing and fitting the now building. The chairman said that designs for the new school to replace the old building lately, burned were before members. The building would run into a fairly large sum of money. ■ The board had stretched Its generosity as far as it could in this matter. Their funds would only permit of the eirecticn of-the building in wood. Mr Buchanan urged that they should apply to the Qovernmeut for a vote to put up a building in brick or concrete for preference. The board agreed to adopt this course. Mr J. H. Howell was appointed senior instructor In woodwork.
