BOOKBINDERS’ DISPUTE

Particulars have been filed of tho disi/Ulo which has arisen between the New Zealand Bookbinders and Paper liulers' .iocitty an<l tho employers of the W t>lUngtoii industrial district. The union units lor a working week of 48 hours, choir regulation to be mutually agreed upon, 'i'no minimum wage for competent journeymen who are required to work [ho full 43 hours shall be £"S 10s per week. If a journeyman is employed casually (for less than a week continuously) ho shall be paid not less than time and a third per hour. Provision is made for overtime, holidays, underrate workers, apprentices and preference to unionists. Messrs William N'aughton, William Burns and C. Johnston are nominated as the union's representatives_before the conciliation commissioner. Th'o conciliation commissioner (Mr P. Hally) has fixed the following dates for consideration of tho dispute:—Wellington, August liJth; Napier, August 16th; Palmerbton North, August 19th.
